Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.

Mbah announced his defection in a state-wide broadcast on Tuesday, saying the move followed deep reflection and consultation.

“Today, after a long reflection, we have made the decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress,” he said.

The governor explained that his decision was aimed at connecting Enugu to the central government and improving development efforts in the state.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its support to the South-East, describing the President’s policies as beneficial to the region.

Mbah was joined by members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, councillors, and other officials in the defection.

Reports suggest that Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri may also announce his defection soon, while Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno had earlier joined the APC with their appointees.
