Peseiro applies to become Zamalek coach

Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro has expressed his interest in the vacant coaching position at Egyptian club Zamalek SC, according to Egyptian website Kooora.
Peseiro is among several coaches who have submitted their resumes for the top job, which became available following the sacking of Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio due to poor results.
According to Daily Post, a reliable club source said, “Jose Peseiro is among the names already nominated to lead Zamalek. However, he does not hold any preferential treatment. His application is just one among many CVs that the board of directors is considering.”
Peseiro’s decision to apply for the Zamalek coaching position may not sit well with his current employers, the Nigeria Football Federation as the 63-year-old recently signed a short-term contract with the NFF during the summer.
The Portuguese coach is currently under fire following Nigeria’s disappointing start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The Super Eagles are winless after two games, including a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe on Sunday.
