Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has won the Premier League Manager of the Month award for the month of December.

The Spaniard claimed the gong back-to-back in both November and December to wrap up 2021 in style as his team remain top of the summit.

Guardiola beats fellow nominees Mikel Arteta, Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp to the award.

“The Manchester City manager steered his Premier League leaders to seven wins out of seven as they finished the month eight points clear at the top of the table.

“It gives Man City a December awards double, after Raheem Sterling was voted the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for the third time.

“Guardiola’s men started December with a 2-1 win at Aston Villa and followed up with another away victory, beating Watford by a 3-1 scoreline.

“A hard-fought 1-0 home success over Wolverhampton Wanderers came before a scintillating 7-0 win against Leeds United, a 4-0 triumph at Newcastle United and a 6-3 home success over Leicester City.

“The seventh and final win of the month was a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Brentford,” the Premier League said.

Guardiola has now been named Barclays Manager of the Month 11 times, giving him the competition’s third-highest total. Only Sir Alex Ferguson (27) and Arsene Wenger (15) have claimed the award on more occasions.
