The Peoples Democratic Party has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, while maintaining the current zoning arrangement of its National Working Committee positions.

The resolution was adopted during the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee meeting, held on Monday at the PDP’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the decision followed the presentation of a report by the party’s zoning committee, which is chaired by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.

“NEC recommended that the North and South should retain their current NWC positions. NEC also resolved that since the National Chairman of the party is zoned to the North, the PDP 2027 Presidential ticket is hereby zoned to the South,” Ologunagba stated.

He further disclosed that the NEC expressed satisfaction with ongoing preparations for the party’s elective national convention, which is set to take place on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to Ologunagba, the upcoming convention will be a critical moment for the PDP as it works to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
