PDP to Buhari: #IbomAir is here, where is Nigeria Air?

Published

The Peoples Democratic Party has called out President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration over its failure to successfully implement Nigeria Air.

The PDP said Buhari’s led Federal Government scammed Nigerians with Nigeria Air but launched Logo designed with billions of Naira.

The opposition party made these comments in reaction to the take-off of the Akwa Ibom state government-owned #IbomAir.

WuzupNaija reports that two aircraft to kick start the operations of Ibom Air have arrived Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom.

In a series of post on PDP’s official Twitter handle, the party said;

“The All Progressive Congress (APC), led Federal Government scammed Nigerians with Nigeria Air, launched LOGO designed with billions of Naira! But the PDP Government of Akwa Ibom State is here with the #IbomAir. Three Aircrafts ready & one landed in Lagos last night.”

“Thank You, Udom Emmanuel.#IbomAir is here, where is Nigeria Air?”

#IbomAir will commence flight operations after the staff training, test run and the regulatory authorities have certified it fit to fly in the Nigerian airspace.

WuzupNaija recalls that the federal government in July 2018, announced the new name and unveiled the logo for the nation’s new national carrier as “Nigeria Air.”

However, in September 2018, the Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, announced that the planned national carrier, Nigeria Air has been suspended by the federal government.

Mr Sirika said; “I regret to announce that the Federal Executive Council has taken the tough decision to suspend the National Carrier Project in the interim. All commitments due will be honoured. We thank the public for the support as always.”

Critics and industry experts had raised concerns over the project when it was launched in July, with many suggesting that Nigeria cannot afford it at this time.
