The National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party has suspended two top officials, Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary, and Kamaldeen Ajibade, the National Legal Adviser, over allegations of misconduct.

In a statement released on Thursday, October 10, 2024, by the party’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, the NWC said the officers were suspended due to accusations of disloyalty and insubordination.

The statement also announced that both officials will face a disciplinary committee headed by the PDP’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, for further investigations.

The statement read: “The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party arising from its 593rd Meeting today, Thursday, October 10, 2024, has directed the National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, to step aside.”

Following the suspension, the NWC has directed that the deputies of both officials immediately assume office in an acting capacity. Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga will take over as Acting National Publicity Secretary, while Okechukwu Osuoha will serve as Acting National Legal Adviser.

The party encouraged its members and supporters to remain united. “The NWC enjoins all leaders, critical stakeholders, teeming members, and supporters of our great Party to remain focused and committed as it pilots the day-to-day affairs of the PDP for its greater good.”

The PDP has been dealing with internal conflicts recently, especially concerning the tenure of the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and disciplinary issues within the party.
