The Peoples Democratic Party has appealed to the judiciary to exercise restraint in matters relating to its internal affairs, warning that excessive involvement could create the impression of judicial politicisation.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, made the call on Friday during an interview on Arise Television, stressing that his position was borne out of deep respect for the courts and the judiciary.

According to him, “I have tremendous respect for the court and which is why the court should stay away from the internal affairs of the party so that they don’t become politicians.”

Ememobong noted that while there may be differences between perception and reality, concerns arise when both begin to align in ways that erode public confidence in judicial processes.

He emphasised that the credibility of the justice system depends not only on fairness in decisions but also on how those decisions are perceived by the public.

He maintained that the PDP was not accusing the courts of wrongdoing but was highlighting the importance of preserving judicial neutrality, adding that it remains a fundamental principle of law that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.
