Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former deputy governor of Osun State, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to pay him a sum of N500 million for smearing his name and retract the publication in which they declared him wanted.

Omisore, made the demand in a letter written by his counsel to the chairman of the anti-corruption agency.
A copy of the letter dated May 25th and signed by Mr. Olakunle Lawal,  on behalf of Chief Chris Uche (SAN) was made available to our correspondent in Osoogbo on Wednesday.
Omisore’s counsel said his client had gone to court to stop the EFCC from arresting him and the commission was fully aware of this.
He stated that the commission had now  resorted to cheap blackmail and character assassination because he had approached the court.
The letter read, “We are informed that the publication is not just malicious but falsehood in all respect. Our client has not refused to make himself available to the commission but rather has proceeded to the court to seek protection of the court when he perceived that the invitation was a deliberate ploy to unlawfully arrest and detain him.
” Consequently, we have our client’s instruction to request for a retraction of the offensive publication along with payment of N500 million damages occasioned by the publication to our client within seven days of this letter.
Place take notice ThA if our client’s demands are not met within seven days as requested, we shall,be constrained to institute a civil proceedings against your commission and its Head , Media and Publicity for aggravated damages which certainly shall not be limited to N500 million.”
The EFCC had on Tuesday  Omisore wanted following his refusal to honour its initiation in an investigation into N700 million fraud allegation.
