Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, on Sunday publicly apologised to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala over what he described as past mistakes, amid an ongoing and widely followed public dispute.
The apology came during a church service, where the cleric knelt before his congregation and sought forgiveness, a moment that was captured in a viral video shared on X.
“Listen, we’re not joining issues. Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender an apology to everybody,” Okafor said while addressing worshippers.
He went on to mention the actress by name, saying, “I am sorry to everyone I have offended, to Doris Ogala also. I say sorry and apologise to everyone that I’ve offended.”
The pastor added that he was ready to make amends, stating, “I’m ready to make a restitution to anyone, anybody, any lady I have offended. I am sorry. Forgive me.”
Acknowledging his human flaws, Okafor said, “Not perfect, I’ve never been perfect.”
The apology follows days of intense controversy between the cleric and the actress, which has played out on social media and attracted public attention.
Ogala had accused Okafor of having an affair with her, promising marriage and later backing out. She also alleged that the pastor shared explicit content, attempted to pay her $10,000 to withdraw her claims, and accused her of being sponsored by rival pastors to defame him.
Earlier this month, the actress, through her lawyers, Synergy Law Partners, issued a formal demand dated December 16, 2025, asking for N1bn in compensation over the alleged breach of promise and reputational damage.
The dispute escalated further when some of Okafor’s children reportedly made additional allegations against him.
While apologising on Sunday, the pastor also claimed that some of the accusations levelled against him were untrue.
“To the lady called Doris Ogala, mistakes have been made in the past and I tender apologies to everybody. There are so many lies in most of the things that were said, however, I am saying sorry to everyone I have offended,” he said.
Reacting to the apology, Ogala welcomed the gesture but rejected the claim that her allegations were lies.
In a post on her Facebook page, she wrote, “Chris Okafor, I forgive you but there is a problem where you said everything is a lie. I have a problem with that because I don’t lie.”
