The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, was absent on Monday at the Lagos State Police Command, despite an invitation extended to him over allegations of rape and other offences considered capable of disturbing public peace.

The PUNCH gathered that the cleric was directed to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, by 10:00 a.m. to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the department.

Police sources, however, confirmed that Okafor did not appear at the scheduled time.

Earlier on Sunday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed in a statement that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a detailed investigation into the allegations levelled against the pastor.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed a thorough investigation into the complaints received, and all parties concerned have been invited to assist the police in the ongoing inquiry,” the statement read.

A senior officer at the SCID, who spoke anonymously, told journalists that detectives waited for Okafor throughout the day without success.

“Following the CP’s directive, the DCP immediately instructed the unit handling the matter to debrief him. They waited, but he did not come. As at this evening, it is clear he is not showing up today,” the officer said.

Another police source revealed that some individuals believed to be acting on behalf of the pastor reached out to the command to request additional time for him.

“We received calls from some people appealing that he should be given more time. They assured the authorities that he would still present himself,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the police reiterated assurances to alleged victims and potential witnesses, promising adequate protection and confidentiality of their identities throughout the investigation.

The command also urged those affected to report at the SCID, Panti, to assist investigators.

However, police confirmed that no alleged victims or witnesses had presented themselves as of Monday.

“None of the alleged victims or witnesses came forward at the SCID for interrogation,” a police source stated.

Efforts to obtain further comments from the police spokesperson on Monday proved unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to her phone were not returned as of the time this report was filed.

The allegations against the pastor began gaining public attention in mid-December 2025 after multiple claims emerged on social media. One of the accusers, Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, alleged in several Instagram videos that she was involved in a long-term sexual relationship with Okafor starting in 2017.

Ogala further accused the cleric of failing to fulfil promises of marriage, sharing explicit content, and playing a role in the collapse of her previous marriage.

In response to the growing controversy, Okafor reportedly addressed members of his church on New Year’s Day, during which he apologised for past “mistakes” and knelt at the altar to seek forgiveness.
