Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has voluntarily presented himself to the Lagos State Police Command following the circulation of a viral video purportedly showing him holding a firearm during an encounter with a content creator on a Lagos road.
This development was confirmed via WhatsApp by the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, according to Vanguard.
Recall that a video surfaced online last week, capturing Pastor Adefarasin holding a metallic object while addressing a passerby who appeared to be filming the interaction. The footage quickly gained traction on social media, sparking speculation that the cleric may have been wielding a firearm during the exchange.
In a message to his congregation shared on his social media platforms last Saturday, Adefarasin responded to the claims, describing the situation as a misunderstanding. He clarified that the object shown in the video was not a gun and stressed that he did not threaten or point it at anyone.
Meanwhile, CSP Hundeyin confirmed in his message that an investigation has been launched.
“No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives. They have commenced an investigation into the case following the emergence of a video showing the pastor holding a gun-like object toward another road user while driving in an unregistered vehicle. The outcome of the investigation will be made public,” he stated.
The police have yet to confirm the nature of the object in question, and the findings from the ongoing investigation are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
