The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer, shared intimate details about his preferred way of departing from this world at the annual Holy Ghost Congress.
Reflecting on his uncle’s serene passing, Pastor Adeboye recounted the incident during his address.
According to the clergyman, his uncle had participated in a day of thanksgiving, attended church, danced joyfully, and even enjoyed a light breakfast prepared by his wife.
The significant part of the story unfolded when his uncle, having decided to go to the toilet, passed away without warning.
His wife, oblivious to the sudden turn of events, completed the pounding of yam for the main meal.
Describing the incident, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the absence of sickness, pain, or any noticeable discomfort.
He used this poignant story to illustrate his belief that one doesn’t necessarily have to experience illness to transition to heaven.
In expressing his own wishes for the end of his life, Pastor Adeboye stated, “If the Lord tarries His coming, I will go on a Sunday after a good meal of pounded yam.”
