Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has warned the Federal Government to avoid allowing Nigeria to fall under the category of terror-sponsoring states.

This comes amidst the controversy generated over some past comments made by the country’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, which appeared to be glorifying and showing support for the extremist groups Al-Qaeda and Taliban.

WuzupNigeria reported that the President of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, during yesterday’s plenary, rejected a motion calling for Pantami’s sack or resignation which was moved by the Minority Leader of the House, Ndudi Elumelu.

This comes as the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday also refused to discuss the widespread demands for Pantami’s sacking during its meeting presided over by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), according to the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

Reacting to the development on her verified Twitter handle on Thursday, Ezekwesili informed the Buhai-led presidency that the world is watching its act of ignorance on the matter.

She tweeted, “The @NigeriaGov @NGRPresident @MBuhari may not realize that the world is following the ugly developments on our country’s Minister of Communication and how his government is handling or in fact ignoring to handle it.

“Nigeria must avoid the list of states that sponsor terrorism.”
