Tension has gripped the Ebedei-Ukwuole community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State following the abduction of multiple individuals within 48 hours.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped on two separate days—March 13 and 14—along Amuchi Road, a key route linking Ebedei Inland and Ebedei Waterside.

Eyewitnesses said the armed attackers took their victims to undisclosed locations and later demanded a ransom of N10 million for their release.

However, a tricycle operator among the captives managed to escape while being transported to Ebedei Inland.

A source familiar with the incident described the ordeal the escapee endured before fleeing from the abductors.

The community vigilante group has since reported the incidents to the Umutu Police Division, seeking assistance in securing the release of the victims.

However, efforts to track down the kidnappers have so far yielded little progress.

Families of the victims are said to be scrambling to gather the ransom to avoid any dire consequences.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, clarified that only three persons, not five, were kidnapped.

The police have yet to provide further details on rescue efforts, leaving residents anxious over the growing wave of insecurity in the area.
