Panic as gunmen kill three monarchs in Imo

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday evening turned the meeting of traditional rulers in Imo State into a bloodbath with three monarchs shot dead in the wake of the attack.

The PUNCH reports that the attack occurred at the Njaba local council headquarters at Nnenasa where the traditional rulers were holding a stakeholders’ meeting.

The assailants were reported to have stormed the scene and opened fire on the people.

When the confusion died down, the three monarchs were found in a pool of their blood while other victims were left with varying degrees of injuries,

The Obi 1 of Okwudor autonomous community, Eze E. Anayochukwu Durueburuo and Eze Sampson Osunwa of Ihebineowerre autonomous community, were named among the deceased

The identity of the third monarch has not yet been released.

Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson in the state, Mike Abattam, said two of the traditional rulers had been affirmed dead.

He however noted that the command had commenced investigation into the incident.

Reports revealed that the incident has left the council headquarters was in a state of panic ss of the time of filing this report.
