PANDEMONIUM AT APC RALLY! NURTW member shot dead, three journalists injured by stray bullets in Lagos

There was pandemonium at the All Progressives Congress rally in Ikeja, Lagos State, on Tuesday, after a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Afeez Ismail alias Legacy, was shot dead.

According to reports, the deceased was allegedly shot in the head by a security detail of NURTW Chairman in Idumota, Azeez Lawal, also known as Kunle poly.

Ismail was said to have been rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where he was declared dead.

The Nation newspaper reported that three journalists were injured by stray bullets.

The paper gave the names of the injured as its Group Political Editor Emmanuel Oladesu; a New Telegraph correspondent, Temitope Ogunbanke; and Ibile Television cameraman, Abiodun Yusuf.

WuzupNaija had earlier reported that NURTW Oshodi Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya alias MC Oluomo, was attacked by suspected union members loyal to the State Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede.

Oluomo was stabbed in the stomach, hand and head. He is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital. Oladesu is receiving treatment at a private hospital. Yusuf, who was hit by a stray bullet on his left arm, is recuperating at LASUTH.

Scores of people were also injured while many were robbed of their phones, money and other valuables.

The rally was organised for APC  governorship candidate in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at Skypower field, Ikeja.
