Oyo to reveal firm where 38 workers test positive for coronavirus today

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will today [Tuesday] disclose the name of the firm where 38 workers tested positive for coronavirus [COVID-19] at Ibadan.

Makinde, who doubles as the chairman of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force, on Monday said the details of the company in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the state was kept confidential in order not to hamper investigations and intelligence gathering

“The details of the company in Ibadan South West Local Government Area, where 38 COVID-19 cases have, so far, been confirmed in the last two days, will be unveiled tomorrow (Tuesday),” he said.

“We have held back from revealing the name of the company so as to allow the Emergency Operations Centre gather intelligence and complete their investigation.

“So, they will be done by tomorrow and we will be able to give you that information so that any person who has visited the company recently will be able to present themselves for testing.

“On the management of COVID-19 cases, we will continue to allow all confirmed COVID-19 cases who are able to self-isolate at home to do so, in order not to overwhelm the capacity of our isolation centres.”

The governor also disclosed that the government would meet religious leaders to discuss the modalities of relaxing social distancing directive

The deputy Chairman of the Oyo State COVID-19, Prof. Temitope Alonge, said,

“On Saturday, 11 patients were discharged while on Sunday 14 patients were discharged, making 25 in a space of 24 hours. In the next 24 hours, we expect more patients to leave hale and hearty.”
