The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the 408 nominees whose names were forwarded by the executive arm of government as caretaker committee members into the 33 local government areas and 35 local council development areas of the state.
The nominees were confirmed by the House at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, on Thursday.
The confirmation came following a screening conducted by the house committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, chaired by Ademola Popoola.
The nominees comprised 198 local government caretaker committees and 210 LCDAs transition committee members. There are 267 males and 141 females in all.
Ogundoyin, who noted that LGAs and LCDAs were the closest to the people among the three tiers of government, said the confirmation would aid accelerated development at the grassroots level of the state,
Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly has restricted movement into the assembly complex in view of the COVID-19 outbreak.
