The Oyo State Government has sealed an industrial facility and a popular lounge in Ibadan over repeated environmental violations and non-compliance with state regulations.

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abdulmojeed Mogbojubola, ordered the closure following multiple complaints from residents regarding harmful emissions from Fountain Manufacturing Company Ltd., located in Oluyole.

Despite years of government intervention and mediation efforts, the company reportedly failed to comply with directives or adhere to state environmental laws.

Similarly, the government sealed Casta De Lounge, situated along Akala Expressway, for indiscriminately dumping waste on the highway median. Investigations revealed that the lounge failed to patronize government-assigned waste collectors and had committed multiple environmental infractions.

In a related move, the state government has declared a state of emergency on improper waste disposal in markets and public spaces. Speaking at a meeting with market leaders, Mogbojubola announced the distribution of skip bins across major markets to curb indiscriminate waste dumping.

The commissioner urged market executives to maintain cleanliness and warned that authorities would not hesitate to shut down non-compliant markets. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner environment across the state.
