The Oyo State Government has issued a seven-day ultimatum to occupants and owners of illegally erected kiosks, containers, shanties, and businesses along roadsides.

The notice was given by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abdulmojeed Mogbojuola, during his visit to the Ojoo community in the Akinyele Local Government Area.

Mogbojubola highlighted the negative impact of these activities, stating, “Their activities have been constituting a nuisance to public health, causing unwarranted obstruction of the free flow of traffic, passersby, and vehicles.” This contravenes the Environmental Sanitation Regulation of 2013.

“Illegal operations should be halted, especially on the roadsides and drainages occupied by individuals. And you must vacate this place in seven days,” Mogbojubola emphasized. He further advised traders to relocate their businesses to more suitable places designated for them in neighborhood markets.

The Commissioner stressed that complying with the ultimatum would contribute to curbing road accidents and preventing the loss of lives and property.
