Oyo govt begins payment of N513m compensation to land owners

The Oyo State Government has started paying compensation to property owners affected by the construction of an Air Force Base, a General Hospital, and an ICT Centre in the state.

The properties are located along the Ajia Inukan LCDA, Ona Ara Local Government corridor.

The Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, announced this during a meeting with the affected landowners.

He explained, “The state government has allocated N513,462,446.50k as compensation to the claimants.”

He emphasized that compensation is an important step in maintaining a positive relationship between the government and the residents.

Earlier, the Oyo State government conducted an identification and verification exercise for the property owners along the project corridor. Their properties were valued to prepare for the compensation payments.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Adedokun Olalekan, thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for showing care and understanding toward the people of Oyo State.
