Indian authorities have arrested three Nigerians for allegedly trafficking cocaine.
According to reports, the Narcotics Control Bureau in Bengaluru arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian woman, Irene Omoibe, who was travelling from Mumbai to Bengaluru by an SRS Travels interstate passenger bus.
The agency said Omoibe was caught with 400 gms of cocaine. The cocaine was found wrapped in brown duct tape, the NCB said.
During questioning, Omoibe confessed she was travelling to Mumbai to deliver the drugs to other members of the network.
Based on the information, the NCB arrested two other Nigerians, Nwanoro Chigbo Victor and Kenneth Jideofol.
Reports claimed Victor is the kingpin of the smuggling operation.
Officials also arrested a Sudanese, one Antwan Faisal Mohammed.
According to officials, the cocaine was given to the woman by foreigners in Mumbai but officials are yet to track them down.
Officials suspect that all four people arrested do not have proper documents and ID and are not staying in the country legally.
