The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, revealed that this year’s floods have impacted 180 local government areas, affecting over one million people and displacing more than 600,000.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday while receiving 18,653 bags of rice donated by the Bank of Industry and 1,696 cartons of humanitarian relief items from the United Arab Emirates, Umar emphasized the ongoing efforts to mitigate the disaster’s effects.

“The donations from both the Bank of Industry and the UAE government have come at a critical time and will significantly complement the Federal Government’s efforts in providing relief to flood victims and internally displaced persons (IDPs),” Umar said.

She added that the 50 cartons of humanitarian aid from the UAE, containing 1,696 cartons in total, would be distributed among the states hardest hit by flooding this year.

Each carton holds 20 assorted food items, making it a complete food basket to assist affected communities.
