Drivers license: FRSC commences computer-based test for applicants

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ondo State Command, has disclosed that no fewer than 6,038 driver’s licences remain uncollected by applicants across the state.

The FRSC State Sector Commander, Dr Samuel Ibitoye, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Akure.

According to him, 7,213 licences were carried over from 2024 to 2025, while an additional 3,097 licences had been received from the production plant between January and now.

“So far, we have received a total of 10,038 driver’s licences. However, only 4,272 have been collected.

“This means that 6,038 driver’s licences are still lying unclaimed at the Driver’s Licence Centre under the Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue,” he said.

He urged applicants to visit the Board of Internal Revenue office in Alagbaka, Ondo State, to claim their licences, noting that many people complain about delays even when their licences are ready for pickup.

He also stressed that a valid driver’s licence is the only legal document that permits individuals to drive on Nigerian roads and warned that those without one would face sanctions.

“An unlicensed driver has no right to operate a vehicle on public roads. If such a person gets involved in an accident, the law will not be lenient,” he stated.

He appealed to those still driving without a valid licence to regularise their documents immediately, adding that driving without a licence is a serious offence that carries legal consequences.
