Over 30 internet fraudsters, kidnappers arrested in Anambra
Operatives of the Nnewi Vigilance Service in Anambra State reportedly apprehended over 30 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud, commonly referred to as Yahoo boys, and involvement in kidnapping activities.
The raid, conducted by the vigilant group, uncovered not only the alleged fraudsters but also led to the arrest of young girls believed to be victims of exploitation.
The suspects were found in possession of charms, multiple mobile phones, and dozens of SIM cards.
An anonymous commander from the vigilante group disclosed, “The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.”
The facilities housing the suspects have been sealed by the Vigilante Group to facilitate a thorough investigation.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident, stating that an ongoing investigation was underway. “The command has received the suspects, and interrogation has commenced,” Tochukwu affirmed.
