More than 241,000 voters may miss the Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa elections as PVCs have yet to be claimed by owners. This is according to the  Independent National Electoral Commission, with about two weeks to the deadline for collection of PVC in the states as elections approach.

According to The PUNCH, 107,715 PVCs are awaiting collection in Kogi, while no fewer than 134,000 PVCs have yet to be claimed by prospective voters in Imo State. The figure for unclaimed PVCs in Bayelsa State is unavailable.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it will not extend the PVC collection deadline in the states and has admonished registered voters not to delay the collection of their cards, which may deprive voters of the opportunity to partake in the elections

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, and the Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Gabriel Longpet, affirmed that there was no going back on the October 9 deadline. They cautioned the concerned electorates against waiting till the last minute to collect their PVCs.

INEC has fixed the governorship elections in the three states for November 11. Eighteen parties are fielding candidates in the elections.

Registered voters in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States are urged to collect their PVCs before the October 9 deadline to enable them to vote in the November 11 governorship elections.

Voters can collect their PVCs at their states’ INEC local government area offices.
