Association of Resident Doctors of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, on Wednesday said during the period Consolidated Medical Salary Structure was not implemented in the state, healthcare delivery suffered negative consequences.

The association, however, commended Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola for approving the implementation of the adjusted CONMESS for doctors in the state after several years of agitation.

Oyetola recently approved 100 per cent implementation of the CONMESS and Consolidated Health Salary Structure for all categories of health workers in the state which had been pending in the last eight years.

A press release signed by LAUTECH’s ARD General Secretary, Dr Segun Ilori, obtained by our correspondent, said the approval was a great step in the right direction, noting that it would go a long way in improving the standard of healthcare delivery in Osun.

The association lamented that the delayed implementation of the new salary structure caused massive brain drain in Osun health sector, which it said had impacted poorly on healthcare delivery in the State.

“The benevolence will go a long way towards improving the standard of healthcare delivery in the State, which we believe is one of the frontline agendas of the Executive Governor.

“There has been loss of morale and enthusiasm among the health workers with consequential work overload, which had adversely affected the psychology of health workers in the State,” the statement read.
