Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri has acknowledged that star striker Victor Osimhen is still working his way back to full fitness and needs more time to rediscover his top form.
Osimhen has struggled to make a significant impact since returning from a hamstring injury, failing to score in recent outings against Bologna, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan.
With the crucial Serie A clash against Juventus at the Allianz Arena looming on Friday, Mazzarri addressed the concern surrounding the young Nigerian forward.
“Osimhen obviously needs time to find his best form, also in terms of physical conformation,” Mazzarri said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
He further acknowledged Osimhen’s contributions despite not being at his peak, highlighting the striker’s physical presence and ability to impact games in limited playing time. “But it’s clear that even if he wasn’t at one hundred percent, he can still give me great guarantees for the strength he knows how to express, even for portions of matches like he has done so far after returning.”
Despite his recent struggles, Osimhen has still managed to score six goals in 10 league appearances for Napoli this season.
Napoli’s clash against Juventus promises to be a thrilling encounter, and Osimhen’s presence, even in a limited capacity, could prove crucial in determining the outcome of this highly anticipated Serie A fixture.
