Victor Osimhen matched the late Diego Armando Maradona’s scoring feat at Napoli by securing a hat-trick in the club’s 6-1 triumph over Sassuolo on Wednesday.

According to Opta, a renowned statistics website, Osimhen becomes the third Napoli player in the club’s history to have achieved ten or more goals for four consecutive seasons, a record initially established by Maradona from 1984 to 1988.

The first player to set this record for the Partenopei was Attila Sallustro, accomplishing it between 1929/30 and 1932/33.

Osimhen commenced his Napoli career by scoring 10 goals in 24 league games during the 2020/21 season.

He followed up with 14 goals in 27 league outings the subsequent season. In the last season, he netted 26 times in 32 league appearances.

Currently, the 25-year-old has already scored 11 goals in 15 Serie A appearances this term.
