Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is celebrating his 23rd birthday today, December 29, 2021.
The former Lille striker took off his protective mask in his birthday photograph shared on his verified Instagram page.
“Grateful To GOD For The Gift Of Life🙏🏽Happy Birthday To Me,” he captioned the photo shared with his 635 thousand followers.
WuzupNigeria reported that Osimhen has been forced to wear a protective facemask after suffering fractures following a clash of heads with Inter defender Milan Skriniar, and had titanium implants placed in his cheekbone and eye socket.
The injury he suffered to his cheekbone in November has left him sidelined, posing a risk to his appearance in the African Cup of Nations which is scheduled to kick off on January 9.
Although he was initially ruled out for three months following surgery on his face, the birthday boy recently declared himself fit for the continental tournament.
“I will be available for AFCON unless if am not among the players picked to represent NIGERIA,” Osimhen said on Twitter.
However, recent reports suggest that the Naples club will stop Osimhen from featuring for Nigeria in the 2022 AFCON despite being called up to the Super Eagles camp as the training retreat starts today.
