Oshoala, Nnadozie nominated for CAF women’s award

Ahead of the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony slated for December 11 in Marrakech, Morocco, Super Falcons players Asisat Oshoala and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been named among the ten finalists for the coveted CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the final shortlist on Monday via its website. Oshoala, a five-time winner of the award, and Nnadozie, a rising star in Nigerian football, will compete against fellow nominees Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne, and Christy Ucheibe for the prestigious title.

The CAF Women’s Player of the Year award recognizes the outstanding achievements of female footballers in Africa. Oshoala, the reigning champion, will be seeking to extend her record-breaking streak, while Nnadozie aims to make her mark on the continental stage.

The full list of nominees for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award includes:

  6. Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria, Paris FC)
  7. Andile Dlamini (South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns)
  8. Hilda Magaia (South Africa, Sejong Sportstoto)
  9. Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa, Racing Louisville)
  10. Barbara Banda (Zambia, Shanghai Shengli)

The CAF Awards ceremony will be held on December 11 in Marrakech, Morocco, where the winners across various categories will be unveiled. The event will celebrate the pinnacle of African football and honor the continent’s most outstanding players, coaches, and teams.
