OSBC gets N1.2bn transmitter, studio equipment

Published

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has recently received state-of-the-art transmitters and digital equipment valued at ₦1.2 billion for the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation.

This significant investment is part of the administration’s commitment to revitalize the state-owned media conglomerate, which includes Osbc Radio, Osbc Television, Orisun F.M Ile Ife, and RRS, Iwo.

In a statement, Barrister Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, emphasized the administration’s dedication to restoring OSBC’s former glory.

He stated, “The administration is further poised to do everything morally and officially possible to restore the hitherto age-old glory and professionalism associated with Osun State Broadcasting Corporation as a dominant mega broadcast outfit in the South-West.”

The newly acquired equipment comprises two transmitters and two studios for each radio station located in Osogbo, Ile Ife, and Iwo. This move is in line with Governor Adeleke’s commitment to ensuring a sense of belonging across all three senatorial districts of the state.

Furthermore, this development marks a historic moment for Osun state, as it is the first time such a substantial investment has been made in the state’s broadcasting infrastructure since its creation over three decades ago.

Governor Adeleke’s administration has also realized the longstanding aspiration to increase the height of the Iwo Reality Radiovision mast from 200 ft to 300 ft, enabling a wider reach beyond Osun and Oyo State.

The governor’s initiative aims to address challenges such as erratic power supplies that have impeded OSBC’s uninterrupted transmission. With the new equipment and infrastructure improvements, these issues are expected to become a thing of the past.

Governor Adeleke expressed his belief that the substantial investment in OSBC will yield positive results.

He stated, “The total cost of the equipment is ₦1.2 billion, including the cost of pre-shipment inspection visit to Italy, training, insurance, renovation of the existing studio and transmitter halls, and installation as well as the mast for RRS, Iwo.”

The governor expects that OSBC’s board, management, and staff will justify this considerable investment through increased productivity and the proper maintenance of the newly acquired transmitters and studio equipment.
