Oral sex between married couples is not sin – Apostle Suleman

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has said that oral sex between married couples is not a sin.

The cleric made this statement during a question-and-answer session at his church headquarters in Auchi, Edo State. A video of the session, which surfaced online on August 22, showed a female church member asking if oral sex was a sin in marriage.

“Daddy, Sir, is oral sex a sin?” the woman asked.

Responding with a chuckle, Suleman said, “Should I answer from the Bible? Anything you do with your wife indoors is not a sin. So long as she’s your wife and both of you agree to do it, it is not a sin.”

He explained that the Bible supports intimacy between married partners, saying, “I can show you from the Bible. When the Bible was talking about the wife of your youth, it was saying, ‘go within thy walls, let thy hands pass through her cisterns.’ What do you think the Bible was saying? So long as it is not fetish, a ritual, or diabolic, it is not a sin.”

The comment has sparked discussions online, with many sharing mixed reactions to the cleric’s interpretation of the scripture.

Suleman has seen his fair share of controversies in recent years. In 2022, Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar publicly accused him of having a romantic relationship with her, alleging that it led to severe health problems, including unusual bleeding and multiple miscarriages.

The accusations prompted Suleman to threaten legal action and file a N1 billion defamation lawsuit against her in January 2023. In April 2024, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja ruled in his favor, ordering Abubakar to pay N10 million in damages for defamation.

After over a year of public disputes, Abubakar issued a public apology in October 2024. In the apology shared on Instagram, she admitted that her claims were false and expressed regret for the pain caused to Suleman, his wife, Dr. Lizzy Suleman, his family, and the leadership of Omega Fire Ministries.

Suleman responded by saying, “Forgiveness is not memory loss! Status quo maintained!” while asking people to stop calling his phone about the matter.
