Popular celebrity businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has acknowledged that his failure to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last general election was an error, while revealing a shift in his political stance toward working with the federal government.
The socialite made the remark during a political gathering in Imo State, describing the event as the outcome of several weeks of preparation.
He said the gathering symbolised unity and renewed support for the current administration.
According to him, prolonged political opposition had not produced the desired outcomes, leading to a decision to adopt a different political approach.
“We have decided to partner with the government at the center. We are not ready to fight. We tried fighting and it didn’t work for us,” he said.
Politics Nigeria reports that Chief Priest also applauded Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, for maintaining a close working relationship with the federal government, noting that such cooperation has contributed to development in the state.
He further praised Seyi Tinubu, whom he described as a bridge-builder fostering stronger ties across ethnic and regional lines.
Reflecting on the previous election, the entertainer admitted that he had once opposed Tinubu but now considers that stance a political miscalculation.
“Politics is a game… we don’t want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again,” he stated.
Chief Priest also claimed that the coalition of supporters rallying behind the president could evolve into one of Nigeria’s largest political movements, pledging stronger mobilisation ahead of upcoming elections.
He concluded by offering prayers for Tinubu’s success in office and called on Nigerians to prioritise unity, partnership, and collaboration as the country advances.
