A fintech platform, OPAY, has announced the prohibition trading cryptocurrency and all virtual currency trading.
This company made this known in a public notice shared via their social media platforms.
In the statement signed by the management of the firm, it stated that they were complaining with the directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The statement reads, “In compliance with the CBN directive, please note that Opay profits any cryptocurrency and all virtual currency trading.
“Any account engaging in such activities will be closed, and customer information will be shared with regulatory authorities.
“Please ensure that your account does not involve in any cryptocurrency or any other virtual currency transaction.”
Recall that the CBN earlier in the week had put a temporary stop on OPAY and some other fintech companies from onboarding new customers in the fight of the securing a viable financial environment and fighting against illicit activities.
