The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and his fourth wife, Olori Folashade, have joyfully welcomed their first child together, a baby boy.

The monarch shared the happy news on social media on Tuesday, posting a picture of himself alongside the new mother.

In the caption, he expressed gratitude, saying, “To God be the glory, great things He has done.”

The Ooni went on to congratulate the House of Oduduwa and Olori Folashade on the birth of the prince, noting the child’s royal lineage.

“Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and Olori Folashade, who today birthed a prince from the mother’s side of Ooni Adagba Royal Compound of Lafogido Ruling House and the father’s side of Ooni Agbedegbede Royal Compound of Giesi Ruling House, combined to the Royal Throne of Oduduwa,” he wrote.

He added that both mother and child are in good health, attributing their well-being to the grace of God and the blessings of their ancestors. The post concluded with the hashtag “#Otisese,” a reference to the traditional belief in the continuity of the royal lineage.

This joyous announcement comes just five months after the Ooni and his family celebrated the birth of a set of twins.
