The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the arrival of twin baby boys with one of his queens, Olori Mariam Ajibola, sparking celebration within the Royal House of Oduduwa.

The monarch disclosed the development on Friday in a statement shared via his official Facebook page, where he expressed appreciation to God for the successful delivery and the wellbeing of both mother and children.

According to the statement, Olori Mariam and the newborn princes are healthy and in stable condition.

The palace message read, “We return all glory to Almighty God for His endless blessings and mercies. We rejoice with the House of Oduduwa and Olori Mariam Ajibola on the safe arrival of twin princes to the royal family.”

It further stated, “We are grateful to God that both the mother and the children are healthy and doing well.”

The birth represents another major milestone for the Ile-Ife royal household and has attracted congratulatory messages from admirers, associates of the palace and members of the Yoruba community.

Oba Ogunwusi, who became the Ooni of Ife in 2015, has remained in the public spotlight in recent years over developments surrounding his marriages. After the collapse of his marriage to former queen Naomi Silekunola, the monarch married several wives in 2022, including Olori Mariam.

Speaking in the past about his personal decisions regarding family and marriage, the monarch said some traditions linked to the ancient stool of Ile-Ife played a role in shaping those choices.

The Ooni had noted, “There are things tied to the institution and heritage of Ile-Ife that cannot simply be changed.”
