A fire incident in Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State over the weekend has claimed the life of a one-year-old baby, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) have said.
Spokesman of the command, SC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
He explained that the fire incident happened in Yayari quarters on Saturday around 0134hrs in a residence of one Muhd Rabiu, a Staff of the Ministry of Education.
“The fire consumed the life of a year-old-girl and property worth millions of naira,” he said.
Adamu said that the incident took the combined efforts of the NSCDC personnel, men of the Fire Service and good Samaritans to quench the fire.
He said the house was completely razed down and the cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained at the time of writing this report.
