The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed a tragic incident of electrocution in the Day Waterman area along the Kobape region of the state.
According to reports, an unidentified individual lost their life while attempting to cut a cable belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, stated that the yet-to-be-identified man was cutting the cable that belongs to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company when the incident happened.
“The corpse has been taken to the Ogun State Teaching Hospital Sagamu for autopsy,” Odutola stated.
The unfortunate event was brought to the attention of the police by a staff member of IBEDC at the Owode Egba branch.
In a separate incident, two casual staff members of the Quantum Packaging Company in Igbesa were apprehended for allegedly stealing a cable suspected to belong to the company.
The Chief Security Officer of the company, Okoi Akilepo, discovered the theft during a foot patrol and promptly handed over the suspects to the police.
Confirming the arrests, Odutola said that both suspects have confessed to the crime.
The police are expected to conduct further investigations into the cable theft incident.
