One person reportedly lost their life in a lone accident along the Abeokuta-Sagamu highway in Ogun State on Tuesday night.
The incident which occurred around Nestle Roundabout at approximately 9 pm involved a Highlander SUV with the registration number JJJ721JB, carrying six individuals.
The Federal Road Safety Corps spokesperson in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident and attributed the crash to a combination of a tyre burst and speeding.
“A total of six persons were involved in a crash along Sagamu-Abeokuta Road, around Nestle Roundabout, at about 2100 hrs. The six persons were all male adults; one was injured, and unfortunately, one person died from the lone crash,” Okpe disclosed.
She further explained that the injured victim received medical attention at Idera Hospital, while the deceased’s body was taken away by family members.
Commenting on the suspected cause of the crash, Okpe said, “The suspected cause of the lone crash was a tyre burst and speeding.”
In response to the incident, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, Anthony Uga, advised motorists to conduct routine checks on their vehicles and promptly replace any defects detected.
