A tragic motor accident claimed one life and left two others unharmed near the Federal Road Safety Corps Command in Nteje, along the Awka-Onitsha expressway in Anambra State.
The accident happened around 9:30 am and involved a Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ125JV and a Ford Explorer with registration number ZBL626RL.
Eyewitnesses said the driver of the Camry lost control and crossed into the opposite lane, hitting the Ford Explorer. “A fatal road traffic crash happened opposite FRSC Command Nteje by Nteje-Awka-Onitsha Expressway,” one eyewitness reported.
The eyewitness also identified the Camry driver as Chiweuba Evaristus Chidiebere and noted that the driver of the Ford Explorer remains unidentified.
“Three male adults were involved in the crash. One male adult was killed. Two male adults were rescued unhurt,” the eyewitness added.
The FRSC rescue team from RS5.3 Nteje quickly responded to the scene. They took the injured to Chira Hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead by the doctor. His body was later taken to New Jerusalem mortuary in Nteje.
The rescue team also managed traffic and cleared the road to remove the obstruction caused by the accident.
The FRSC expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged all motorists to stay alert and maintain full concentration while driving.
