A tragic multiple-vehicle accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday near the Iju bridge on the Ota-Idiroko road in Ogun State, claiming one life while two individuals sustained injuries.
Additionally, two of the vehicles involved plunged into the Iju River.
The vehicles in the accident had the following registration numbers: an IVECO truck with the registration AAA969ZY, a Ford mini-truck with the registration BDG340XZ, and another Man Diesel truck without a visible registration number.
According to Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the injured victims were promptly taken to Otta General Hospital for medical attention, while the deceased person’s body was deposited at the morgue of Ifo General Hospital.
The FRSC attributed the cause of the multiple crashes to a mechanical fault in one of the vehicles and advised motorists to pay close attention to their vehicles, promptly detect any faults, and address them to prevent accidents.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, Anthony Uga, also emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance to avoid road crashes.
