Delegates from Sabuwa Local Government Area in Katsina State were caught in a road accident while en route to the venue of the All Progressives Congress North-West Zonal Congress.
The crash reportedly resulted in the death of one delegate, identified as Dalhat Machika.
Several others sustained injuries, including a former Deputy Governor of the state, Hon. Sirajo Umar Damari, as well as the APC Chairman of Sabuwa Local Government.
In a statement issued by Malam Ibrahim Kaula, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, it was disclosed that those injured are currently receiving treatment at Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital located in Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
The statement further noted that Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda visited the hospital shortly after attending the APC North-West Zonal Congress to assess the condition of the victims.
According to the statement, Governor Radda sympathized with the victims and their families, prayed for their speedy recovery, and assured them of the government’s support during this difficult time.
He was accompanied during the visit by the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; along with other senior government officials.
