A 500-level student of Adekunle Ajaasin University, Akungba, Ondo State indentified as Ayandare Modupe has reportedly died mysteriously as the cause of her death couldn’t be ascertained.
In a video making rounds on social media and sighted by our correspondent, the deceased is seen hanging down from a rope with no sign of life.
Modupe was reported to have gone for vigil and left church at about 4am but was later found dead.
An X user, Oluyemi Fasipe who shared the video on X.com wrote, “This 500L student of AAUA was found dead this morning in Akungba; she was said to have left a vigil around 4 am. The circumstances surrounding her death look very suspicious; video and eyewitness accounts show that she did not commit suicide as presumed. I am calling on the @OndopoliceNG to critically investigate this matter, as this looks more like a case of murder. cc: @OfficialDSSNG @Princemoye1.
“Her name is Ayandare Modupe, popularly known as Com. Modesty, from the Faculty of Agriculture, Agronomy department, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akubgba Akoko.”
The Ondo State Police Command has however reacted to the post, they wrote “That case has been reported at AKUNGBA Division and the command is working on it. Thanks.”
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the institution’s Students Union Government, Olaogbebikan Noble, confirming the incident through a statement, said all hands were on the deck to unravel the cause of the incident.
The statement read, “We express in strong terms our dissatisfaction and agony concerning the death of one of our students, Ayandare Modupe.A 500L student of the Department of Agronomy (Agronomy Departmental President).
“According to the report, the deceased was said to have committed suicide in the early hours of today, around 4 am, after they finished vigil in her church. The incident happened beside the church she attended around the Spotless Vlla.
“The law enforcement agency has been informed already, and all hands are on the desk in getting to the root of the situation. Rest assured that justice will be served, and the law enforcement agency will do a thorough investigation. Should you have any information to supply regarding the incident that happened, kindly reach out to the Students’ Union. Stay tuned for further updates as further investigations are underway.”
Also reacting to the post, an X user, Justice Sholahudeen wrote, “ I represented my faculty in a debate organized by the faculty of agriculture last session, I was the second runner up, she presented me a certificate of participation, then handed me a sweet delicacy. You are not alone modupe, may your soul rest in eternal peace.🥺❤️”
Another X user, Ade writing as Ade_yinkar wrote, “The person that off this girl is trying to cover up something.”
Royal Princess also reacting to the post write, “500l? May God console her family. Olorun Jo, ma je ke se owo asedanu lori awon omo wa o.”
St paul also wrote, “Clearly a staged fake suicide ..go to the church”
