INEC Collation Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, announced a recess to allow the arrival of results from the remaining five local governments—Akure North, Okitipupa, Odigbo, Ilaje, and Ese Odo. “We will resume at 5 am to receive these results,” Akinwunmi said.
A dispute arose in Idanre, where the PDP agent alleged irregularities, including vote-buying, ballot box snatching, and no voting in some areas. He called for the rejection of the results from the local government.
INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Kunle Ajayi, assured voters of transparency and timely declaration of results. Speaking to Channels Television, he said, “I can assure you that until we declare the winner, we won’t leave here. We will wait until the last local government. With five local governments remaining, counting continues at 5 am Sunday as voters anticipate the final results.
