Ondo landlady arrested for allegedly poisoning tenant’s three-year-old son

A 40-year-old landlady, Nafisat Lateef, has been arrested in Ondo State for allegedly poisoning a three-year-old boy, the son of her tenant, following a minor disagreement.

The incident occurred in the Omifon area of Odigbo Local Government. According to police sources, the suspect gave the child, Abdulrasheed, a liquid suspected to be poisonous around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The child’s mother, Rofiyat, 32, reported the incident at the Odigbo Police Division. After consuming the substance, the boy began vomiting and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police detectives swiftly arrested the suspect and recovered the liquid substance.

The state police command spokesperson, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is in custody and has made useful statements. He said investigation is ongoing and the case will be charged to court upon conclusion.

Abayomi advised residents to avoid landlord-tenant disputes, warning that such disagreements can escalate into criminal acts. He reassured the public that the police command is committed to ensuring justice and urged citizens to continue providing timely information to aid crime prevention.
