The Amotekun Corps, a security group in Ondo State, has successfully prevented five kidnap attempts and rescued nine victims within just one week.

The state Commander of Amotekun Corps, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, shared this news during a press conference in Akure on Friday. He also displayed 20 suspected criminals arrested for various crimes, including cultism, housebreaking, and motorcycle theft.

Adeleye emphasized the commitment of the Amotekun Corps to keeping residents safe. He said, “The rangers have been active in combing the forests across the state, particularly in known flashpoints, to keep kidnappers at bay.”

One of the suspects, 28-year-old Usman Abubakar, was arrested in Igbo Oba, Owo. He confessed to collecting N2 million from a victim. Adeleye stated, “Abubakar told us how they shared the N2 million, and he also told us how to get to the root of their godfathers.”

Adeleye praised the Amotekun Rangers, launched by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for their efforts in penetrating the forests and stopping kidnappers. He added, “We were able to resist five kidnapping attempts and we were also able to rescue nine victims. That is to say that the kidnap attempts failed.”

He also mentioned that the notorious Elegbeka area has been targeted in their operations. “We are glad to say that the Amotekun Rangers have infiltrated the entire forest to guarantee the safety of commuters,” he said.

Adeleye reassured the public that the rangers would continue their work in the forests to ensure the safety of all residents and protect lives and property.
