WWE’s superstar, Kenny Omega, has returned to the top of All Elite Wrestling after defeating MJF to become the new AEW World Champion in a thrilling main event on AEW Dynamite: Beach Break.

The highly anticipated championship match marked one of the biggest television bouts in AEW history, with MJF putting his title on the line against “The Best Bout Machine.”

The contest carried major consequences for Omega, who entered the match knowing that another defeat would permanently rule out his opportunity to challenge for the AEW World Championship again.

The closing stages of the match delivered a dramatic sequence of events. MJF attempted to gain an advantage by using his Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Will Ospreay rushed to the ring and prevented Friedman from using the weapon.

Omega later found himself with the AEW World Championship belt in his possession and had the opportunity to strike MJF with it. However, he decided against using the title as a weapon.

MJF responded by hitting Omega with a low blow before following up with a devastating shot using the championship belt. Despite the illegal attack, Omega shocked fans by surviving the pin attempt and kicking out at one.

The former AEW World Champion quickly turned the momentum back in his favour, landing three straight V-Triggers before hitting MJF with the One Winged Angel to secure the victory and claim the championship.

The defeat brought an end to MJF’s third AEW World Championship reign, which lasted 46 days. He had captured the title again by defeating Darby Allin at AEW Double or Nothing 2026 in May.

Omega’s victory marks another major achievement in his AEW career and places him back at the centre of the promotion’s championship picture.
