Olympics: Germany’s Yemisi Ogunleye wins gold in women’s shot put

Germany’s Yemisi Ogunleye won the gold medal in the women’s shot put at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ogunleye made a winning throw of 20.00 meters on her final attempt, securing her place at the top of the podium.

In the shot put final held at Stade de France, Ogunleye’s throw surpassed New Zealand’s Maddison-Lee Wesche, who recorded a personal best throw of 19.86 meters. Song Jiayuan of China claimed the bronze with a throw of 19.32 meters.

Ogunleye’s impressive performance at the Olympics follows her previous achievements, including a silver medal at the 2024 World Indoor Championships and a bronze medal at the European Championships in Rome in June.
