Oluwo reportedly demands N20m from Osun Gov to marry Kano princess

The Oluwo of Iwo land in Osun State, Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has reportedly demanded the sum of two million naira from Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State as he attempts to marry a yet-to-be-identified princess from Kano Emirate.

This is according to a letter written to the office of the Governor dated February 8, 2022.

The Oluwo who divorced his ex-wife, Chanel Chin, in 2019, plans to replace her with the princess who is from the Ado Bayero dynasty, the letter circulating on social media stated.

The Oluwo, as contained in the correspondence, noted that the “royal wedding within two notable traditional institutions in Nigeria will require huge expenses” and as such requires Oyetola’s financial and logistics support as he moves to bring home his soon-to-be new queen.

“I have the instruction of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo to notify you of the Oluwo’s decision to marry a Princess from Kano Emirate, to be precise Ado Bayero dynasty.

“I wish to remind your Excellency that the kind of royal wedding within two notable traditional institutions in Nigeria will require huge expenses, which necessitate the support of state government financially even logistically.

“Moreover, the estimated amount for the event is above N20,000,000. His Excellency, Oba Akanbi relies on you for necessary consideration and approval on this request.”
